The Sochi 2014 Fleet — the pride of VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus
For a country hosting Olympic Games the Olympics are eagerly-awaited sporting and cultural events. However, for the Olympic organizers, selection of the host city for the Olympic Games is only the beginning. Each Olympic event is preceded by years of preparations and during this period commitment of Games partners to Olympic values is absolutely crucial.
As a General Partner of the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus will provide the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee with more than 3,000 Volkswagen, Audi and ŠKODA Passenger Cars, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. The vehicles will be used by tens of thousands of athletes before and during the Olympics. VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus will also provide vehicles for the Olympic Torch Relay in 2013-2014.
Partners of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will also be able to rent 1,500 vehicles from VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus during the Games.
Sedan: a light class for new achievements
A sedan is one of the most comfortable and versatile vehicles of the Sochi-2014 Fleet: 25% of the vehicles transferred to the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee will be of this car class, including the most popular automobiles among Russian consumers: Volkswagen Polo sedan, Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen Phaeton, Audi A4 Allroad, Audi A6 (including a complete Allroad set) and A8, ŠKODA Octavia and ŠKODA Superb.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles: the ultimate team option
Trucks and minivans are essential for the Olympic and Paralympic Games since the cars will be also used for transporting sports equipment and delivering hundreds of athletes arriving to Sochi in advance. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles allocated the most popular models to the 2014 Games: Volkswagen Multivan, Volkswagen Transporter, Volkswagen Caravelle and Volkswagen Crafter.
SUVs: The Olympics without the hassle
SUVs or so-called off-road vehicles are perhaps the most versatile cars in the Sochi-2014 Fleet. They can handle anything any types of- roads. About 30% of more than three thousand cars that VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus is supplying for the Sochi Games will be models like Volkswagen Tiguan, Audi Allroad and ŠKODA Yeti. For even more demanding road conditions, a number of off-road vehicles, such as Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7, will be available for the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee. The impressive Volkswagen Amarok is especially worth noting: Amarok pick-ups will help the Organizing Committee of the most important sports event of the year to overcome any obstacles related to preparation for the Games.

While athletes will be demonstrating Russian sports achievements the Sochi-2014 Fleet will show off the country's advancements in the automotive industry. Most of the vehicles in the Sochi-2014 Fleet will be manufactured in Russia at the production plants owned by VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus in Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod.
Caring for the environment in Sochi
VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus uses a variety of technologies to reduce a vehicle's environmental impact, for example, Bluemotion, Ecofuel, diesel engines, and hybrid versions of popular models. In TSI engines the total displacement has been significantly reduced and consequently it helped to decrease the fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and environmental impact as a whole.
The Sochi-2014 Fleet will comprise vehicles using Bluemotion technologies and diesel engines, which will help to minimize the Fleet's impact on the region's unique natural environment.
